Finally Getting My Groove Back - Paint #1

Well, I am feeling pretty good with how this painting turned out. I have been working for so long on a KEOASSO technique and I think I finally discovered it! I have a total of 6 I want to complete by end of Feb 2010 and maybe more, but these take time especially with kids. I am really excited to show my process and the final piece. My sons are very cute about their reactions, one says "its beautiful" and the other says "its yucky" which is awesome! Next week will be the December's Artwalk and I think I am going to explore Ballard's Artwalk, there is a lot of Glass Artist, so it should be great! I'll have more to share, hope you enjoy checking out my 1st Un-Named Painting. Cheers - Kay

Selling A Painting

Today I sold a painting. It was unexpected, because it has been years since I painted, so the confidence wasn’t there. So you could imagine to my great surprise when I was approached by someone who wanted to buy one of my paintings. Our conversation was around why I haven’t been showing and when is the next show? Well, getting into galleries in Seattle is very hard, since most if not all require you to have a MFA, which I don’t and if you are not represented by a agent, then you are worth it. So, I have like most self taught artist show our work in places like cafes, private parties, functions, etc. So, when our conversation was wrapping up it came down to "how much"
I find this part the hardest, because pricing something that is attached to my emotions is priceless. So, in most cases I let the buyer chose the price. I feel money is money and in this economy world its really what you can afford? Let's face it... I am not Picasso and I won’t really be Picasso until I die... who knows.. maybe I'll see my painting success when I am in spirit

Yucky Weather, Brings Beautiful Art with Family Together Time

It's November 5th, the 1st Thursday of the month. We as a family went to our 1st Art Walk at S.A.M (Seattle Art Museum)
http://www.seattleartmuseum.org. With this wonderful stormy night, we bundled up and headed to listen to music and viewed some awesome art! The boys had a great time and we had some wonderful conversations around masks, paintings, colors, etc.
The trip cost us only $7.00 for a family of 4. Going to S.A.M was free and what a best thing to do on such a stormy night.
I was pleasantly surprised on how many folks came out. Highly recommend to com out and enjoy and fun time!

Fear and Defeat Won this battle... back to Square 1

I just couldn't do it.... maybe next painting.

Struggles vs Fear Are they the same?

As I smell the oils and watch this image of "GRACE" come a live, a fear comes over me. I am not certain of my vision, uncertain of my talent. Am I talent? Why is fear so strong? I have everything that a person can ask for, but some reason I am empty inside. Will this painting release some confidence? I am determine to push my fears, just feel at times of emptiness.
